The sudden death of Mr* George Pannell,i
of Mount Gambier, already reported in our tele-
graphic columns, is thus referred to in the Border
Watch of June 20:— "We have to record with
deep regret the death of Mr. Geo. Pannell,
architect, which occurred very suddenly. Mr.
Pansell was in his usual apparently robust
health on Saturday, and was about the town all
day doing business. About 4 o'clock in the
afternoon he was at the new public schools now
in course of erection (of which he was Clerk of
Works), when he suddenly dropped down in a
fit. He was at once removed to his home and
medical aid procured. It was then ascertalned
that the right lobe of the brain, and all his left
side were paralysed, and his case was regarded
as very critical. He remained in an uncon-
scions state up till Tuesday morning, when he
died shortly after 8 o'clock. Mr. Paimeil was
one of the oldest residents at Mount Gambler,
and was held in very general respect. He was
a member of the first District Council esta-
blished here, and throughout his career was a
prominent member of the Wesleyan Church.
He leaves a wife and eight children to lament
their loss.
