Mrs. J. August Thiele, whose death
occurred at Loxton last week, was born
near Mount Barker in 1867, and was
married to Mr. Johann August Thiele
in 1888 at St. Petri's Church, Callington.
They lived at Callington for 15
years, and later at Kanmantoo. In
1904 they went to Loxton, where Mr.
Thiele had been engaged in farming
pursuits. Mrs. Thiele's father was the
first to take up agricultural land in
the district about 21 miles from Lox
ton, on the river banks, where Mr
B. Edwin Thiele now resides. There
was then no town of Loxton as the
first township lands were sold from the
farm of Mr. John Drabsch in 1907
Mr. Thiele is at present an inmate of
the Loxton Hospital. There are three
sons and five daughters.
