September 10.— Tbe death of Mr. Albert
Bussenschutt at the age of 84, which took
place on Monday last, has removed an old
German colonist of the best class from our
midst. Though he never took part in public
matters, he had always be held in the
highest respect for the steadiness and
straightforwardness of his life and his in-
dustry. His careful farming methods have
served as a model worthy to be copied by
others. The deceased came to South Aus-
tralia from Bremen on September 27, 1S46,
in the ship Paulena, Captain Stalljas. He
first settled at Hope Valley, where he
started farming, augmenting his income by
working at his trade as a carpenter. Eight
years later (1854) he removed to this neigh-
borhood, where he carried on farming for
the last 51 years at 'The Avenues." He
left a widow 4 sons, 5 daughters, 32 grand-
children, and 1 great-grandchild.
