jun., farmer, and chaff and hay dealer, who
passed away at his residence in Helen-street.
For over four years Mr. Norman had suffered
from heart disease, and for the week preceding
his death had been unwell, but it was not till
yesterday morning that he was confined to bed.
Mr. Norman was the eldest son of the late Mr.
Ellis Norman, of Yahl, and was born in
Cambridgeshire, England, in May, 1846, being
thus 59 years of age. He came to Adelaide
with his parents and the rest of the family 53
years ago, and accompanied them to the Mount

Mount Gambier he was engaged in farming,
first in partnership with his father, and after-
wards alone. The deceased for many years
took an active part in local affairs. For 20
years or more he was a member of the
Mount Gambier East Council, as representative
of either O.B. Flat or Yahl Wards. He
relinquished district council work about four
years ago. For many years he was a member
of the Mount Gambier branch of the Agri-
cultural Bureau, and was so till his death. He
was also a member of the Mount Gambier
Lodge of Oddfellows, I.O.O.F., M.U. For some
years he had been a Justice of the Peace. Mr.
Norman leaves a widow and three sons and four
daughters. The sons are Messrs. C. T. Norman,
