LIERSCH
Farmed At Crystal
Brook 40 Years
Mr. Frederick Wilhelm Liersch, of
Balmoral road, retired farmer, died in
Pirie Hospital after three weeks' illness.
He was 81 years of age. His health be-
gan to decline about five weeks ago and
he was taken to hospital in May 17.
Mr. Liersch was born at Bethany, near
Tanunda, in 1862. After having com-
pleted his education there he went to
work at a butcher's shop in that town.
He learned the trade cf butchering, but
did not follow it for any length of time.
In 1886 he came north to Crystal Brook,
where he married Miss Emma Seidel,
youngest daughter of the late Mr, and
Mrs. W. Seidel, well-known settlers in
that district. They lock up land near
Crystal Brook arid were engaged in
fanning for nearly 40 years. Mr. Liersch
was one of 1he few remaining pioneers
of "The Brook."
Two years after the death of his wife
in 1924 Mr. Liersch and the adult family
came to Pirie, where he lived in retire-
ment in Balmoral road.
Surviving members of the family are
Theodore (Crystal Brook), William (Cry-
stal Brook), Ottilie (Pirie), and Rose
(Pirie). Hugo and Emma are deceased.
Rev. T. Wiebusch officiated at the
funeral, when the remains were laid to
rest in Crystal Brook Cemetery. Pall
bearers were Messrs. H. Frith, H. Saint,
P. Lines, E; Lange, F. Noll, and A.
Seidel.
