Went to school at M.L.C. in Sydney. She trained as a nurse at the RACH at Camperdown, Sydney, and served as an Army Sister in Australia and ,also at Bouganville, in the Solomon Islands.
Later she did Obstetrics at the Royal North Shore Hospital at St. Leonards in Sydney and also did Tresillian nursing.
She worked at a number of country hospitals in New South Wales, and worked for seven years at Royal North Shore Hospital until she retired.
Bessie remained single and is now living in a Vasey Housing Association unit at Waitara, a Sydney North Shore suburb.
She has played tennis and golf and enjoys all types of craft and works with a Handicraft group at Hornsby and Kuringai hospit als as a Pink Lady. She is involved with church fellowship and i s an associate member of the Civilian Widows Association.
