The last surviving member of a family of twelve. Mrs Sarah Mary Attwood of March Street, died at her home on Monday morning at the age of 82 years. A daughter of Mr & Mrs James Ivers, who were among the pioneers of the district. Mrs Attwood was one of the best-known and highly esteemed residents of Borenore from where she came to Orange with her son John, after the death of her husband who had been gatekeeper at Borenore, railway crossing for 27 years in 1917. Mrs Attwood was loved by many for her selflessness and a desire to do good for those around her. For the reason as well as for others, who will be greatly missed from the community. Two daughters one of whom was Mrs Martin Schmich, predeceased her and she is survived by one son Mr John Attwood of Orange a niece; Miss Kitty Ivers, who had resided with her for 23 years, besides four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her funeral took place yesterday afternoon and her remains were interred in the Catholic portion of the Orange cemetery. Members of the Loyal Star of the West Lodge attended the funeral. McGowan carried out the mortuary arrangements.
