OBITUARY
MRS. MARY KREMER
The death occurred recently at
Springfield, of Mrs. Mary Kremer,
widow of the late Mr. Michael Kremer.
Born in Sydney on September 28,
1842, the late Mrs. Kremer was one
of the oldest pioneers of the dis-
trict. She was the third daughter of
Arthur Hall Connor, of Ballinderry,
Ireland, whose family records date
back as far as the year 1200.
The late Arthur Hall Connor sailed
for Australia in the ship Herald of
St. John, and reached Sydney on
July 15, 1840. Shortly afterwards he
settled around what is now known
as Rosemonte.
He was a personal friend of Cap-
tain Hovell, the explorer. He died
on January 10, 1885, and was buried
in the old cemetery at North Goul-
burn.
With the passing of Mrs. Kremer
the last of the Connor family of the
first Australian section ends.
The late Mrs. Kremer remembered
quite well the time the bushrangers,
Hall, Gilbert and Dunn held up the
Faithfull brothers, the Braidwood
mail Coach and other vehicles at
what is now known as the Mine Hill.
Her husband took ammunition to the
Faithfull brothers when they were
having their encounter with bush-
rangers.
She is survived by six daughters
(all of Sydney), and three sons,
Spencer (Trundle), John (Sydney),
and Arthur (Springfield). There are
15 grandchildren and 23 great-grand -
children and 2 great-great-grand
children.
The interment took place at the
old cemetery at North Goulburn.
