Mr. Ernst Dienelt, late of Birdwood,
who died at the residence of his daughter,
Mrs. R. Steen, Knightsbridge, on Satur
day, was born at Clansthal, Hanover, Ger-
many, in 1844. He landed at Port Ade-
laide in 1854 from the sailing; ship Joliann
Ceasar. He first lived with his parents
near the city, where his father carried
on a bootmaking business. He then
went to Gilles Plains, where he was em-
ployed on a farm- In 1859 he removed
to Birdwood, and was employed at Messrs.
F. Pflaum & Co.'s flour mills for more
than 40 years, except during the sheep
shearing season when, for 56 consecutive
seasons he received engagements from al-
most all the leading sheep station con-
trollers in the northern areas; Mr.
Dienelt was a good judge of horses.
