YONGALA NOTES
Mr. Alexander Spavin, who died
at Yongala recently, was born nt
Gumeracha on 30th July, 1831, and
went to Yatina on his 17th birth-
day, where he engaged in black-
smithing. Later he took up land on
Yongala Estate when it was cut
up for closer settlement. He married
Miss Isabela Lyddon in 1900. She
died in 1906. Later, Mr. Spavin mar-
ried Mrs A. Kennedy. They went to
reside in Yongala township 26 years
ago. He is survived by his second
wife, three daughters and two sons.
One son, Driver J. L. Spavin, won
the Military Medal at the last
Great War and was later killed
at Tel-Aviv.
