private hospital, Adelaide, Robert Richard
George, loving husband of Sophia Christina
Meinck, of Ferguson Avenue, Fullarton, aged
81 years.

'Fields Pioneer
Passes
A pioneer of the Western Australian
Goldfields recently passed away in Ade-
laide at the age of 82 in the person of
Mr. Robert G. Meinck.
Born in South Australia, the late
Mr. Meinck came to Western Australia
in September, 1892, and. was in York
when news came through that Bayley
and Ford had discovered gold at Cool-
gardie.
He pegged a claim not far from Bay-
ley's Reward, becoming a friend of
Bayley.
After a visit to South Australia,
where he married, he returned to West-
ern Australia in 1899 and and set up busi-
ness at Boulder as a general mer
chant, the partnership then being
known as Meinck and Piper.
Five years later he retired from
business and purchased an estate at
Greenhills, near York.
Later he became interested in the
York Flour Mill became director and
retained his interest in this business
until his death.
