The Gellert a 3 masted ship of 600 tons.  The Gellert departed Bremen August 28th 1847 under the command of Captain Ihlder/Fhlert and arrived in Port Adelaide on December 21st 1847 with 247 passengers.

The passenger list below is based on an official passenger list hand-written  by Edward Delius, a transcription of which appears in the Mattners in Australia [1] and several web pages and family histories.  A number of the immigrant families from the Gellert settled initially in Hoffnungsthal.
