OBITUARIES.MRS. BARBARA STOLTENBERG.The death occurred at her residence, Maitland Street, Narrabri,on Fnday, May 14, of Mrs. Barbara Stoltenberg, wife of the lateA. Stoltenberg, of Mount Pleasant, Narrabri. The deceased, whowas 75 years of age, was a veryold and esteemed resident of thedistrict, and carried on the estate,with the aid of her sons, following the death of her husband somethirty years ago. The propertywas leased to her son, Frank, andduring the last ten years, the lateMrs. Stoltenberg has resided inNarrabri. She was the daughterof the late Mr. and Mrs. JohnStoltenberg, who were among theearly settlers of the Singletondistrict renowned for the vineyards which they established whenthe wine industry was one of themost flourishing of that period.The family was also the first toestablish vineyards in the Narrabri district, which they didagainst the advice of experiencedgrowers, who assured them theirventure would not meet withsuccess, but enterprise broughtits reward. Old hands of the district will remember the splendidvines which thrived on MountPleasant and the adjoining property in the Stoney Creek areafor many years.The late Mrs. Stoltenberg issurvived by five daughters andfive sons: Mrs. G, Wurzbach andMrs. H. Lindley (Sydney), Mrs,W. O'Connor (Newcastle), Mrs. O.Gordon and Mrs. K. McLennan(Narrabri); Sons: Hands, Albert,Arthur (Mudgee), Frank andMerv. (Narrabri), The Rev.Canon May conducted the burialceremony, which took place inthe Church of England portion ofthe Narrabri cemetery.
