SUDDEN DEATH.
Died suddenly yesterday at Meri-
hula, Mr. J. Stoltenberg, a well-known
identity and highly respected person
ality. A native of Denmark, he had
lived hereabouts for very many years,
and indeed might be well regarded as
a district pioneer. When he arrived
ot Narrabri he decided to settle on
the land and acquired an area of land
adjoining Killarney station, which
most people regarded as a sandy
waste. This area, by dint of hard
work and farming skill, he transform
ed into an oasis in the shape of a
vineyard and orchard. His home
was noted for its hospitality and
was a rendezvous for young people
to congregate. He reared a largo fam-
ily on this propertv, who still survive
him, including his wife. He was a
past-master in the art of wine-making
and for years conducted a depot in
the town.
