ANOTHER PIONEER PASSES.

Mrs. Marie Louise Ferguson, wi
dow of the late Mr. George Fergu
son, who died at her home, "Clay
more," Jamestown, .recently, was one
of the early settlers of the Belalie
district. She was the second daugh
ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Meinck, and,was born at Woodville.
South Australia, on June 5, 1852.
She was educated at a private school
in Stepney. After leaving school she
went with her parents to Clare,
where they resided for seven years.
When the northern areas were open
ed up, her father was one at the
first settlers at Beialie, where Mrs,
Ferguson had resided ever since. In
1876 she married the late Mr. Geo.
Ferguson, who for many years was
a director of the S.A. Farmers' Un
ion. Though Mrs. Ferguson had
reached a ripe old age, and for a
number of years had been in deli
cate health, she had an excellent
memory, and would often speak of
incidents- of -the early days of the
State and Beialie district. She was
also a great reader. A family or
four sons and three daughters sur
vive, Messrs. George and David Fer
guson (Peterborough), Otto and Alex
Ferguson (Jamestown i. Mesdames
Horace Cox (Parkside). Dave Wal
ton (Wliarminda, West Coast), and
Miss Ferguson (Jamestown).
