James Benjamin Stephens and Jane Elizabeth Pharo
 

James Benjamin Stephens was born in Malvern, Victoria on 6 August 1867.  He was the son of William Tomas Bennett Stephens and Ellen (nee Webber).


James Married Jane Elizabeth (Jinnie) Pharo on 30 January 1901 at the Congregational Church in Greenwich, NSW.


Jane Elizabeth Pharo was born in Wandsworth, Surrey on 11 April 1875.  She was the daughter of Aaron Pharo and Susannah (nee Jurd).  She arrived in Australia on 5 June 1885 with her family aboard the Bombay [2].


James and Jane had four children.  Marjorie Gwendoline (1901-2003, born St Leonards, NSW), Geoffrey Leonard William (1903-1990, born St Leonards, NSW), Gwennyth Jeannie (1906-1966, born St Leonards, NSW), Phyllis Merle (1910-1986, born Greenwich, NSW).  James’ occupation was quarryman and contractor.

Jane died on 9 April 1946 in Chatswood, NSW and was cremated at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium in North Ryde, NSW.   James died 4 months later on 13 August 1946 in Chatswood, NSW.  He was cremated on 14 August 1946 at the Northern Suburbs Crematorium in North Ryde, NSW.
